of well-rounded, high performing junior track and field athletes' will become a reality thanks to a strategic partnership with the Elite Development & Performance Unit (EDPU) of the Sports Company of Trinidad & Tobago. The project will be launched on Saturday 18 February 2017 from 9:00am at the VIP Lounge, Hasely Crawford Stadium.
For a six-month period, 41 athletes will be engaged in a junior elite pilot project with a philosophy that takes a 360 degree approach to developing prospective podium athletes to elite status. The project modules will comprise monitoring and evaluation as well as scientific, therapeutic and educational support to improve overall athletic development. The EDPU will provide the following suite of services:
- Strength & Conditioning
- Sport Psychology
- Sport Nutrition
- Sport & Exercise Science
- Physical Therapy
- Massage Therapy
At the launch, NAAA President Ephraim Serrette and EDPU Executive Manager Tobias Ottley and Sport Services Manager Candice Thomas will present the modules of the programme in more detail, in the presence of the athletes and coaches earmarked for the programme.
