Relay events are some of the most exciting and challenging disciplines in track and field. This workshop series offers an invaluable opportunity for teachers and coaches to refine their skills, learn new techniques, and improve their athletes’ performance.
The Community Sport Department of the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT), under the Sport in Schools Programme (SISP), is pleased to announce the upcoming Secondary Schools Relay Workshops. These workshops will be held in January 2025 at three key locations:
- Hasely Crawford Stadium Warm-Up Field – Monday 13 January
- Mannie Ramjohn Stadium – Wednesday 15 January
- South West Regional Indoor Sport Arena, Point Fortin – Friday 17 January

These workshops aim to equip secondary school teachers and support staff with advanced relay techniques to improve baton exchanges and enhance strategic planning for relay events. Trinidad and Tobago has a rich history of success in international relay competitions, with teams consistently demonstrating world-class performance on the global stage. This initiative helps build the foundation for continued success by nurturing young talent and strengthening the skills of those who guide them.
SporTT CEO Jason Williams said, “Trinidad and Tobago has always excelled in relay events on the international stage. This programme is designed to ensure that our legacy continues by equipping the next generation of athletes and coaches with the tools they need to succeed.”
By fostering these skills, the programme seeks to boost the competitiveness of secondary school relay teams, promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and provide practical training tools for teachers and coaches. Among the specially invited guests are curriculum officers from the Ministry of Education, demonstrating the essential partnership required to implement such programmes with educators.

The target audience for these workshops includes secondary school teachers who support athletes specializing in relay events, track and field coaches working at the secondary school level, as well as school sports officials and coordinators who play a pivotal role in organizing and guiding student athletes.
SporTT remains committed to fostering excellence in sports at all levels and is proud to support the growth and development of athletics among primary and secondary school students through initiatives like the Sport in Schools Programme (SISP).
