PARK AND RIDE FACILITY FOR ICC MEN’S T20 WORLD CUP MATCHES IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
There will be no public parking at Brian Lara Cricket Academy during the Trinidad and Tobago leg of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. To facilitate a smooth entry process, patrons will be required to utilise the Park and Ride system for the matches. This list of frequently asked questions will guide fans during their ‘Out of this World’ experience over the next two weeks.
What is the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Park and Ride service?
Spectator parking is not allowed at the match venue, Brian Lara Cricket Academy (BLCA). The Local Organising Committee for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is therefore implementing a system that allows patrons to park at designated locations, from which they will be transported safely and securely to and from BLCA.
How does Park and Ride work?
The Park and Ride system is simple and convenient. Park your vehicle at one of the designed areas (South Park Car Park or Petrotrin Grounds) and show your ticket to access a Park and Ride shuttle. From there, it’s a comfortable journey to BLCA and an ‘Out of This World’ match experience. At the end of the match, hop a shuttle and return to the parking venue, where you can collect your vehicle.
Are those the only parking venues for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup?
The main Park and Ride venues, as stated before, are South Park Car Park (San Fernando) and Petrotrin Refinery Ground (Pointe-a-Pierre). However, patrons utilising the Water Taxi service on 12 June and 26 June to travel to the match from Port of Spain can use the Port of Spain Parkade. A shuttle will be available when you arrive to take you from San Fernando to BLCA and back. (The Water Taxi will make one round trip between Port of Spain and San Fernando, departing at 5.30pm).
How frequently will the BLCA shuttle service run?
To ensure spectators can get to and from the venue on time, shuttles will depart for BLCA from the South Park Car Park every five minutes and from Petrotrin every ten minutes. The same schedule will apply when patrons are returning to their respective parking zones.
Will my vehicle be safe at Park and Ride venues?
Yes. Members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) will secure the venues and surrounding areas, with support from private security personnel. The parking venues will also be monitored by the Venue Operations Centre and police through a CCTV camera surveillance system.
What if I need assistance when parking or boarding the shuttle service?
Trained staff and volunteers will be present at parking locations to assist patrons with parking and boarding the shuttles, and to provide any relevant information you may need.
What amenities are available for Park and Ride?
There will be covered seating, a medical area, refreshments stand and restroom facilities available to ensure comfort and convenience for waiting patrons. However, we expect the wait to be minimal as shuttles are scheduled to depart for BLCA every 5-10 minutes. There will also be sufficient signage to direct you where you need to go.
Can I use Park and Ride for all the matches?
Once you’re a valid ticket holder for the corresponding match day (12-14 June, 17 and 26 June), you’ll enjoy access to Park and Ride. Please note, however, that parking spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Where can I get more information on Park and Ride?
Stay tuned to SporTT’s social media channels and website as well as print and broadcast media channels for any information or updates on the Park and Ride system. We’ll communicate any changes to Park and Ride to you in a timely fashion.
How much do I have to pay to Park and Ride?
Nothing. Park and Ride is free to valid match ticket holders. Simply present your ticket for that day’s match and hop onboard.
What about fans with disabilities? Will they have access to Park and Ride?
Yes. Accommodations have been made for patrons with disabilities to ensure they can be safely transported to and from BLCA on any given match day. All they need is a valid match day ticket.
What personal items or equipment can I bring onto the shuttle?
Once you purchase a match ticket, you agree with the ICC’s (International Cricket Council’s) associated terms and conditions for attending the match, which includes a list of prohibited items. However, we must emphasise that no firearms will be allowed inside the venue for matches. Fans also cannot bring coolers or bottles into BLCA. Patrons will be screened prior to accessing Park and Ride.
