Jean Pierre Complex

The Jean Pierre Complex was part 1/phase 1 of a bigger plan – A South West Regional Park (Part two being the National Stadium) and was opened in 1979.

It was named in recognition of the netball player Jean “The Dancing Queen” Pierre.She was called The Dancing Queen because of her fastness and eloquence on the netball court and she is undoubtedly the greatest netball player to come out of the Caribbean and one of the best the world has ever seen entirely.

Jean Pierre is the recipient of numerous national and international awards including the Hummingbird (Gold), the Chaconia Medal, the Trinity Cross.

Jean Pierre has also been honoured by the members of the CARICOM as being one of the Twenty-five Most Outstanding Sports Personalities over the past 25 years in the Caribbean.
