The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT), in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO), hosted a virtual seminar in commemoration of World Intellectual Property Day 2026 under the theme “IP and Sport: Ready, Set, Innovate.”
In this presentation, SporTT’s Head of Partnerships and Alliances Services, Kairon Serrette, explores the relationship between intellectual property, sport tourism and major sporting events, highlighting how rights management, branding, broadcasting, merchandising and event hosting contribute to economic growth and destination marketing.
The presentation also examines Trinidad and Tobago’s growing reputation as a host destination for international sporting events and the opportunities for the Caribbean to create and protect its own sporting products and experiences through innovation and intellectual property.
