The Freedom of Information Act Chapter 22:02 of the Laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (FOIA) gives members of the public the general right to access information in the possession of public authorities and the right to amend personal information that is incorrect or misleading. The Act seeks to ensure that greater levels of transparency, accountability and openness are maintained by public bodies and also facilitates public participation.
Every public authority is required to publish an Annual Statement under the FOIA. This statement gives an outline of the operations of the organization and the information which it holds.
