Vacationing students ages 7–17 from across the country will once again enjoy learning the fundamentals of sport while having fun as the Youth Sport Camps return next week (15th – 28th August 2023).

The two-week camps will take place at venues across Trinidad. The programme is being coordinated by the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Community Development (MSCD) and the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) under its purview.

The Youth Sport Camps enjoyed a successful return in 2022 following a hiatus due to Covid-19. SporTT is now sharpening its focus on 15 podium disciplines for the 2023 edition. NGB coaches will introduce the target group to a variety of sports, developing key sport-specific skills among participants. The camps will also provide an opportunity to identify talent in a safe and healthy environment.

Sport Development Officer Courtnee-Mae Clifford, a coach and former national athlete, said the Camps are “a unique opportunity for children and youth to express themselves, learn new skills and be exposed to a pathway that will integrate sport into their lives and careers in their adulthood”.

The 2023 Youth Sport Camps are free to register and will be hosted at 17 venues in the North, South, East and Central Trinidad. Registration will be completely online (https://tinyurl.com/ycky7etz) and the link/QR Code will be available on SporTT’s website and social media pages.
